Academy update | January 2017
The start of a New Year is the opportunity for a fresh start and for many this comes in the form of New Year Resolutions. At the Academy we have been extremely fortunate lately to have many inspirational and motivational people in school – who have inspired our students with their wise words and experiences of how working hard, prioritising and setting goals leads to personal success and achievement. It seems fitting therefore that I remind and encourage all our students to seize the day and embrace all the opportunities and support our academy can offer, in order that they maximise their successes in the future.

Good luck and have a great year.

Rehearsing for Success –
Y11 Mock Results Day
Rehearsing for success
The Year 11 Mock Results day is a poignant experience for our students, who are fast approaching their summer examinations. During a special recent assembly, Miss Leathem-Pugh staged a mock GCSE results day, whereby students collected their mock GCSE results as if it was the actual real results day!
'The atmosphere was exciting but tense in the hall!' said a Y11 student. Miss Leathem-Pugh said: 'Hopefully our students got a taste for what success or disappointment feels like and the experience will spur them to go that extra mile with their school work and revision. As always, the Academy is here to support'.

Students raise
the roof at DALP
Creative Arts
Festival 2017

DALP students rehearsed hard in the weeks leading up to the event as performances were polished to perfection. Tuxford students performed a fantastic dance to the sound track of 'The Incredibles' raising the roof at Kelham Hall, as groups of DALP students joined together for the finale 'Aint No Mountain High Enough'. Special guest Mrs Jan Richardson MBE, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Nottinghamshire, said "I've never spent such a lovely couple of hours and if Her Majesty the Queen had been here, I'm sure she would have wanted to join in. I've had a thoroughly splendid time."

Ticket monies raised at the event will be donated to the nominated DALP charity –'Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance'.

Parent Steering
Parent Steering Group

Many thanks to all the parents who attended our first Parent Steering Group. The after school session was very productive and provided some extremely valuable information that we intend to feed into our Academy Improvement Plans and in to our new Parent Toolkit – which we hope to launch later in the year.
The Parent Toolkit is currently being designed and written to provide a handy source of reference to parents on subjects that will enhance students learning, such as time management, how to effectively revise and useful sources of information e.g. credible recommendations of YouTube Channels.

The next meeting is being held at the Academy on Monday 22nd May, 4.15-6pm. If anyone would like to join or would like more information please contact
