New building

We were judged
in our recent DALP Full Academy Review. Well done everyone!
The time has flown since the exciting move from our old, disjointed building to our stunning new facilities. Like a new home we have grown into, we have modified and personalised the new building to make it the outstanding centre for learning that it is today. More recently we have added our fantastic new drama extension (which sits snuggly under the bridge), invested in a new additional space for the students to have snacks and lunch called the Clumber Café, introduced extra seating all around school and improved the academy's security by introducing gates to the sides of the building. One of my favourite improvements, however and one that we are very proud of, is the academy's gardens, which our very own gardener Alan Hardy works on with our students to maintain so brilliantly. I feel immensely proud that our building and facilities are admired by many of our visitors and makes a productive, positive place to learn and work.

Spring time marks the start of the warmer weather (well slightly!), but it also marks the countdown to examinations and the beginning of some serious revision for our students. At Tuxford we are dedicated to supporting our students in every way we can and so the academy building is open every evening in the Hub and (by prior agreement with staff) for additional revision sessions. Along with our fantastic Learning Resource Centre (Library), we also have a dedicated staffed study room for KS4 in the new drama build, which is available every lunch time. We encourage all students to be proactive in their revision planning and to start early in order to iron out any issues and to feel confident for their examinations. Revision tips can be found on the link below along with a planned timetable of subject specific revision sessions.
High Aspirations
High Expectations
High Achievement

Promoting a sense of personal pride in our students is ingrained within our academy. Throughout our academy building (through displays and artwork) we ensure that our students are stimulated with up to date information, inspirational stories and motivational figures. We are also thankful for our many guests who come in to the academy and have such a positive effect on the students and staff. In particular recently we have welcomed Mr Beezy, local MPs: John Mann and Robert Jenrick and past students, such as David Newman, who took the time to share their experience and routes to success with our students.

As I'm sure you know, Tuxford Academy has a strict uniform and make up policy that over the years has positively benefitted our students in terms of behaviour and work ethic. Standards are currently high, yet I know as a parent myself how uniform issues such as skirt length and trouser style can be a contentious issue and that make up is the norm for a lot of young people outside of school. As a reminder, our policy is that skirts should be pleated and no more than 5cm above the knee. Trousers and skirts should be a medium grey colour. If worn, make up should be discreet and natural looking (light coverage). For full details please see our website or link below to our Uniform/Make-up/Jewellery Policy. Many thanks for your continued cooperation.
